Inktober 11 and 12

Hmmm, I fell behind again.

Yesterday (October 11) was "run"

run

And today's prompt is "shattered." I was thinking about the mirror in The Snow Queen, which, when it broke, caused such problems for human eyes and hearts

shatter

That mirror looks really cool. It also sounds a lot like depression.

Glad you like it! Do you know the story of The Snow Queen? The demons make a mirror that reflects good and kind things as silly and foolish, and beautiful things as ugly, with the intention of flying it up to heaven to mock the angels with, but they drop it midflight, and it shatters. If a fragment gets in your eye, it affects how you see things, and if it gets into your heart, it changes how you feel. All that's just in the prologue! The story starts when the protagonist's best friend gets a piece in his eye and in his heart.

Vaguely. I don't remember the mirror, though.

I've read a Joan D. Vinge novel based on the story.

Also, speaking of depression, I posted an update on Ashley a few days ago.

The Ashley stuff sounds really tough :( I left you a comment there just now.

I've heard that Ashley is dealing with depression so it seems equally tough for her.

I like how sturdy your runner is! Or is he just about to run, tensing himself for the take-off?

I love 'The Snow Queen'. It was the first story in a book of Andersen's stories that I had from as long as I can remember.

Thanks! Yeah, it could be either in that drawing--I guess I was imagining him as on the move, though.

You truly captured the posture of a young child running.

Thank you; I wanted to try drawing a chunky toddler.
