This one lives on our table--the ninja girl made it out of sculpey. It's very tiny, which is partly why the photo is blurry (because if I get close enough for the figures to show, the camera can't cope... but also my photo-taking skilz are not what they might be).

If you click on the flickr link, you can also see our bigger creche, plus the food we hung out for the birds today, thanks to sin_agua's lovely suggestion. I want to do that every year--you're the best, sin_agua!

Everyone was happy with their presents. Little springtime got lots of clothes. She put them all on and said, "look, I'm a goth-prep-geek-hippy." It was funny. You be the judge

Notice the T-shirt? It's the Potter Puppet Pals "Potions Master" T-shirt. (emmycic and her brother trapezzoid (aka Lemon Demon) are so creative! It was because of them that I started my livejournal account--I wanted to leave a comment on her brother's livejournal page, but you couldn't post anonymously, so I opened this account. It's been just about a year now--last year I ordered one of Lemon Demon's CDs for my brother for Christmas; this year it was T-shirts for the three older forest creatures. The healing angel got a Naruto T-shirt instead. )

The peace sign necklace is heirloom jewelry from my mom. We have a photo of her reading to me and my sister in maybe 1970, and she's got the necklace on. She gave the ninja girl her other Vietnam War-era necklace, one that said "War is not healthy for children and other living things."

More later, I think. wakanomori put up the CD player that he got at a tag sale (it hangs underneath a shelf--clever, huh!), and it's playing Sid Phillips.

The creche is lovely! What a creative child you have there. Our son doesn't even understand that Xmas is supposed to celebrate Jesus's birthday. I tried explaining it, but he's "not tryin' ta hear dat." ;)

Great pic of the bird treat tree! I got the idea from trees decorated at the gardens I work at - I really should've taken a picture, but our camera is not long for this world. :(

You know, I went for a walk on a nature trail a few days, a really gorgeous place called Holland Glen that goes by a river and through hemlock trees, and up high above the river, someone had been by and hung pine cones and necklace-sized strings of cheerios and cranberries and popcorn--and I remembered what you had said and thought, I want to try this!

I'll let you know what birds I see visit :-)

A lovely morning with just us--but this is our last break, it's time for serious kitchen work as we have a horde coming over for dinner in a few hours!

I suspect a goth-prep-geek-hippie can sit at just about any lunch table she wants. Happy Holiday to you and yours.
