snow and ice

I've had a number of thoughts I intended to share here, but somehow time has gotten away from me. I owe a lot of people comments on journals (e.g., yamamanama!) I will hope to come journal-visiting tonight or tomorrow.

Meanwhile, have some photos. . .

Still no snow here as yet, but it's beginning to head southwards!

Any storm's funness seems inversely proportional to one's need to get stuff done in it. Especially if the getting-stuff-done involves driving....

Snow and ice can be so beautiful, create such intricate designs. Thank you so much for sharing your winter experiences. I love to see the beauty. I'm just very thankful not to have to live around it any more. :)

So many different sorts--the day I took these, it was the wet, sticking-and-melting-simultaneously sort. Then a bit more fell, cold and fluffy. And it's hung around on the ground, not melting, but only just a dusting. So strange. Usually when there's snow on the ground and it isn't melting, there's more of it.

Lovely details!

We were snowed on today, too, but that's part of a longer story that I'll tell in another place, another time.

I'll come by and look for that longer story.

That last photo reminds me of sublimation, which seems very-- aethereal to me.

I agree about sublimation seeming ethereal!

The last one, the pond looks like the shape of a big bird, it's head at the top and wings held back, going off to the sides. It's like it's "reflecting" on it's dreams of flight through the forrest, and i'm sure it is.

So pretty!

There was snow here only for a few days, and it's well gone now. I'm looking forward to it coming back.

Yeah, it's very magical (if you don't have to risk life and limb in it).

The network of snow on pine needles is wonderful. Fragile, complex.

The snow oak leaf looks to me like a meteor in the night sky. That skyward-looking eye also seems to have a few floaters...

Definitely a few floaters in that eye....

LJ "opened up" now :D

Just saying HI! and rushing to see how many more posts I can see before the gates close!

You have eyes that see much more than I could :D

Glad you were able to drop by. And you're able to see *plenty*. So grateful for your eyes in places I have never been!
