sartorias writes books!

How could I fail to fully appreciate this fact?! I was aware that she had written one or two... but she's written--and **published**-- BUNCHES.

I was just going to the convenient online regional library catalogue to reserve myself a bunch of books (since our local library is small and has, I think, five on the shelf at any one time), and I thought, in addition to finally reading the last of the Dark Magician Trilogy, I will get some of sartorias's books.

Well! I'm sure spoiled for choice! When you mentioned Andre Norton the other day, I didn't realize that YOU HAD COLLABORATED with her! And you've written Oz books?! I spent all of third grade trying to get to Oz (then it morphed into trying to get to Narnia).

And you've got several series out there! So, I can't wait to get these books!

So, well... wow!

Well, I'm pysched to read Crown Duel, too, and yeah, the Oz books were great! Which were your favorites? I liked Ozma of Oz, the Road to Oz, Glinda of Oz, the Scarecrow of Oz, the Lost Princess of Oz--gee, as I start to list them, the list gets pretty long...

I'd say chances are extremely good :-) I was telling my mother about this (my discovering your three pages' worth of publications), and she reminded me about how my own experiences as a kid ought to have clued me in to the fact that fantasy writers were the coolest, friendliest lot.

Well, of course! It's just that usually I've discovered this from the other direction--approaching an author as an eager fan--it's quite another thing to discover that a funny, insightful person with the fascinating life and a way of really stimulating a great blog discussion IS ALSO a successful fantasy writer.

By the way, which L. Frank Baum Oz books did *you* like best? I assume enjoying them yourself is what prompted you to write some?

Hey, all of us weenies are going to live to see the day when we too have three pages of publications and are equally friendly to all the beginners out there, right? actually, I'll settle for one or two publications, at this point, but..

Seriously, my impression, since joining LJ is that writers=very friendly. It's been marvelous!

No weenies here! They are all on the freeway, yapping on the cellphone and tailgating.

And a fifth-grade teacher! Wouldn't you have killed for a fifth-grade teacher who also wrote fantasy? I think I would have been in heaven. (Although, I did like my fifth-grade teacher, even though he didn't write fantasy. His last name started with an X, which I thought was cool.)

I know I shouldn't be laughing at you... No, really, I'm laughing with you. That's the ticket. :)

Also, have I mentioned that in my spare time I'm Batman?

You're batman?!!! OMG, that explains everything! How could I have missed it?

It was funny, though, to type sartorias's name into the search box and come up with three pages of hits. At first I couldn't believe it was all the same person.

Well, my expectations for the rest of you are running really high now. You're really all newsmaking artists, internationally acclaimed activists, oft-interviewed diplomats, beloved humorists, and dedicated scientists, right? RIGHT??

Yorukamome, suteki na tanka desu ne!

I can't write in kana and kanji right now because my main computer is under repair, and I'm down in the basement, using my kids' one. So I'm limited to romaji!

But this tanka of yours is beautiful.

I think you may be right!
