yuki ga futte kita

it's snowing

this morning, it was making clickety clicking noises on the oak leaves, but now it's falling in big fat flakes. this userpic doesn't show it very well, though...

Dear b_oki, alas no--I'm boringly American, always pretending to be something else :-)

But, I've lived in Japan and speak and read Japanese, so that's one reason for the Japanese username.

thank you for explaining :)
some probably think i am japanese because of my pen-name. usually i explain the story behind my pen name when i join new groups. i'm american too.
i admire the fact that you lived in japan and speak and read japanese as well.
i visited japan in 1988 for two weeks and loved every minute of it and that was even before haiku and tanka became a large part of my life.

Kyoto mainly. flew to Chitose (sp) for a couple of days and to Tokyo for the weekend. this was when i was a graphic artist in the Air National Guard :) Tokyo was amazing. it was soooo clean. i wish i would have been more interested in the temples and in seeing Basho's grave and other things that i am intrigued with now. but that's ok. i just cannot WAIT to go back. i want to walk the sacred Pilgrimages and to feel the earth and feel those who've walked and prayed before.

I had to stop a minute and listen to it. Mainly I was having busy, boring thoughts, but that sound completely distracted me :-)

We also have snow for three days now... :)

You have almost written a haibun. Just add haiku! :)

blades of grass
between the snow
old dog needs to shake!

(the hill looked like a dog with snow on its fur--at just about the point when a dog would get tired of that snow and shake! that's what my dog does, anyway--and then more snow starts right away to build up on her back, and then she shakes again, and so on)

more haibun at the end of the poem :-)

What kind of a dog do you have?

She looks mainly like a border collie, but she must have other things mixed in, because she doesn't act much like a border collie.

Thanks for the pic! The dog must be very hairy...? :)

I love dogs, too. But now, I have one cat, and that's all...
