computer trouble

my computer, a mere three months old, is dying or dead--maybe due to faulty power supply in my study, or maybe just because it is eeeevil, or because I am (I do destroy electronics; I'm bad...)

anyway, I haven't been able to work or do NaNo (THAT'S down the tubes) or check LJ or anything, and now I'll have to concentrate on catching up, so won't be able to do proper posts or comments for a few days, probably... so, I'm thinking of you all, but not able to communicate...

send your good cyber vibes to my computer!

special thanks to my tech support wakanomori, for going beyond the call of duty--as usual. And apologies to heyes for jumping off the phone this morning...

Well, I seem to be able to do work here in my basement, on the kids' computer... but boy is the dehumidifier loud! And it's chilly down here! But it's better than no computer, that's for sure! I will come and take a look at your pretty paintings now!

Thank you! Poor thing needs all the help it can get. Right now I'm on my kids' one...

So, what's up with your computer? Oh, wait, if it's not working, you can't tell me! I'll just have to pray!

Actually, my husband's got a temporary fix, so I can work w/all my data (touch wood) down on my kids' computer.

Not sure what's wrong--it may be a weirdly fluctuating power supply in my study--whenever we run the new laser printer, it makes all the lights dim, and maybe that has had a bad effect on the computer. Or maybe it's just a flaw in the computer (it had this problem from before of falling asleep and not waking up--comatose computer). Or maybe it's the general dustiness of the room (I knew there was a reason I should be a better housekeeper). My husband's going to do more tests, and we'll see...

Ah I should have read your other comments before I asked. :p I hope it's nothing serious, dude! (or maybe you get a new laptop?)

haha! And I answered your one comment before getting to this one :-D that's what comes from doing it from e-mail w/out looking at the big picture :-)

eee, I hope your computer recovers. Since you've posted... I hope everything's okay?

yes and no... yes--I have (thank God!) a working computer and access to my hard drive...

no... old (actually new) computer seems still kaput, and I'm in the basement :-(

... and the computer I'm on is the one we replaced because its screen had a tendency to flicker and pop, and we're not sure when the video card is going to go--or whatever causes the popping. But now that problem suddenly seems a lot less bad than the die-on-you-for-no-reason problem.

still, I'm just so thankful about having a place to work and access to the hard drive! (but i hate the basement<--and I can complain and be thankful in the same breath!)
