autumn morning

The sky ocean was pretty incredible this morning... now the sun is rising late enough that I catch its early light when I set out on my walks. See how it's only hitting the tops of the trees in this pic? (Edit: I'm putting them behind a cut, because otherwise it really is slow if you have dial-up...)

autumn morning

The clouds look pretty in the stream in the undiscovered country

and to get there, you walk on little white asters...

I want to tell you about the town fair--next year will be its 150th year! and about how much I dislike helping to organize the Crop Walk (completely unrelated to the town fair, except organizing the one gets in the way of helping out with the other...), and about other things. And I had a couple of ideas for s-f stories, but ideas aren't the same as actual stories, are they! (sigh. they're not...) And, I had the jingle for Golden Grahams cereal running through my head at lunchtime... I was eating some, you see... but that jingle is probably not even used any more... insidious marketers! But it'll all have to wait for another day...

I remember silly old jingles as well. My favorite are Pizza Hut, Pizza to Go. Also Toys R Us Kids.

yeah, Toys R US Kids is a pretty catchy one!

I guess until the last Sunday of October when the clocks go back and then the sun will rise an hour earlier ;>) (is that right? this daylight savings thing always confuses the he** out of me)

The Crop Walk to stop hunger? We used to do that every year in the church I just left. Beginning to miss that church now.

The photos are gorgeous! If you see that from your backyard or on your daily walk you are truly blessed. And you see things on your walk that I would probably pass right by.

I too used to be very confused by the Daylight Saving Act until my Canadian niece gave me the mnemonic, "spring forward, fall back"! I need to calculate to call up family all over the US, so...

Yeah, I always get confused about that too. Let's see. 7 am will become 6 am--so you're right, it will be brighter daylight by the new 7 am. For a while, anyway.

Yes, same Crop Walk. This town has been doing it (with v-e-r-r-y moderate participation) for about 18 years. I've been helping organize it for 3. But I'd like to stop... I'm not much of an organizer, and I don't love it enough to keep on doing it for love. It's very awkward because in town it's kind of an ecumenical thing, but then it's always unclear who should make the first move each year, etc. etc. So much stuff happens in the fall, too!

I may post about it, or I may just end up posting about other things--depending on how blitzed I feel.

It makes sense that you'd miss your old church--you were so involved! I don't think it means you made a bad decision, though.

Time... time... time... I need so much more of it! What lovely pictures. Wish I had the time to write all that I wish to...but I just don't have the time.
