As I write this, on NPR they're interviewing someone from the CBC studios in Halifax! A musician. Of course I didn't catch his name (because I'm hopeless...) but he has a song called "Waiting for my cappuccino"--does this mean anything to you? Oh wait, the guy's name is Dan Reeder...

Have you heard of him?

Yeah, I've heard of him a little bit... intrigued to hear more of his stuff. Here is his myspace: http://www.myspace.com/danreeder

But he is not from here, he was travelling to open up for John Prine who is on tour and just played here. I think he is an American living in Germany?

Anyway when I was poking around his myspace I saw the letter he wrote to John Prine tha tI guess ended up with him opening up on tour:

Wow, that *is* a cool letter! I'm impressed by people who can be both painters AND make their own guitars AND use computers.

He's not a spring chicken, I noticed, when I looked at the MySpace photo. That's cool too. (Speaking as an older person who hasn't done anything remarkable--YET)

Yeah. I'll never forget being thirtteen and reading this fun little book by Gordon Korman, who had written it when he was twelve! it was called "This Can't Be Happening at Mcdonald Hall."

I already felt too old to do something remarkable. I got over it though, mostly!

Yeah, as I move past landmark figures, I look for older and older late bloomers. Grandma Moses is looking pretty good to me now.
