long sun over the water

Driving someone somewhere, where there are horses, in the lateday sun, that sideways sun, the sun that Miyazaki captured so well in となりのトトロ (My Neighbor Totoro) when Satsuki is looking for her missing little sister Mei, this song came on the radio; I didn't know what it was, but thought it sounded like Coldplay, and it was a blissful, seraphic song,
and it was playing as I passed by a certain pond, a pond that comes right up to the road on both sides, so the road is like a bridge, and the sun was sparkling on this pond--oh, and my windows were wide wide open, and the breeze was flowing in and all around me, right in one sleeve of my t-shirt and out the other, like I saw a sparrow do one day with a t-shirt that was hanging on the clothesline--do you get this picture

air/wind/sideways lateday sun/blissful, wistful, music**/water sparkling/

and did I mention trees shining, dragonflies flying, insects singing, the whole world just thrumming with something

Oh my

I was delirious with joy.

I caught snatches of lyrics, and God bless the Great Internet: I typed in those random words, and yes! The song was by Coldplay, and it's called Talk. And I downloaded it. And I'm listening to it now!

Also, I made some more sumac-ade. Here is a picture of it soaking in a pot on my stove:

**lyrics turn out to be melancholic in a way that I completely identify with, too--so I can know my sadness, too, as well as be blissfully happy, listening to this song.

My second son, Jay, turned me on to Coldplay and they are AWESOME. I love those moments where you almost feel your "self" disappearing into the surroundings of the experience you are in.

Sumacaid. There's got to be a cocktail that calls for it.

beautiful...loved sharing that! I too had a lovely walk today, but through all the traffic, which I just ignored!

I take it that Sumac-ade will be strained before drinking?
And where's my "Fudgy Mud Cake"? (flourless Chocolate cake)

It's in my queue, right behind the ice cream I promised I'd make the guy who gave me an ice cream maker (through freecycle--yay!) As for how I'll get it to you... well, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

yes, the drink does get strained, btw. Three times the Vit. C of lemons!!

that sideways sun -- here's to cool Canadian air masses that nudge the New England summer steam aside and let us see again. As refreshing as your snow peas that I'm munching on for lunch here :-)
