hotday

Today I am running with sweat, the way I haven't since summer in Kyoto. I've become a veritable saltwater spring. It's a hot day :-)

Cucumbers are sleeping...

Clouds are passing in the sky....

I should be working, but I'm not.

Maybe now I will.

Funny - you said the cucumbers are sleeping, and there's some bedstraw growing right next to it. ;)

No, it's the logo for Native Seeds/SEARCH here in Tucson. But good idea! ;)

It's hot, it's true.

I am sweaty... but I like it!

if only I didn't have to work at all, I'd just sleep through the worst of the heat and drift around smelling the smells and feeling the breezes the rest of the time.

Re: power?
We didn't lose it, except for a few minutes.... maybe the wires are older down by the cosmic lake.

A while back, I dumped the potting mix my coriander was growing in into another garden bed. Now I have 3 new coriander plants coming up! I'm taking good care of them.

A lady peeped into her neighbour's garden and found that his tomatoes were a lovely, fruity red, and asked him about them. "Well, I just come out every day and expose myself to them," he said." They blush and turn this bright red."

Determined to get the same results with her tomatoes, she came out everyday, too, and exposed herself in her garden.

"And how are your tomatoes doing now?" asked the neighbour some time later.

"Not too well," the lady replied. "But my cucumbers are growing great..."

Just couldn't resist posting that!

That was such a nice post. When I was growing up, I spent a lot of time with my grandparents, and papa always had this huge garden (he was from a farming family in Arkansas). I always remember the smell of the vegetables and dirt in the summer; nothing else smells as nice. Cucumbers, tomatoes, hot peppers, it's that heat-and-dirt smell.

Your life seems so peaceful. I love reading your journal just so I can get a taste of what that is all about.
