Ooh, good stats there. I envy your ambiguity and depth.... my child. ;)

Yeah, but I'm a real snail for speed. That's what comes of staring at your card for 30 hours or so before making my own! Check out sufitom's speed--he must have made his the instant he saw yours!

I don't know how that ambiguity got up there! It started out at zero, I think.

what game is this, and how do I play it?...and I know you will give me the right reply, as your honesty rating is 100%!

Yes, silly me--what I didn't figure out was how to post a shot equivalent to Amberdine's! Then you could all be my children (in this "live trumps" game)--but... I didn't... I'll have to post and edit to this post so people know.

Anyway, you go to this url: http://www.remotegoat.co.uk/livetrumps.php, and it will make a card for you, based on characteristics of your blog. For instance, if you have a lot of friends, your "social rating" is high; if you make a card quickly after viewing someone else's card, then your "speed" rating is high; and so on. I think there's a link on the page that tells you more about how the card is created. Then you place your card into play, and it comes up against a random other lj person's card, competing on one of the characteristics. Gradually you go up levels... it's fun to see all these other lj-ers userpics.

But I'll never have any children if I don't repost! (sniffle!)

top trumps
In England they have this type of card game called top trumps, and this is based on it. The cards can be on any subject--we have cards for dinosaurs and The Lord of the Rings--and they have a bunch of relevant statistics that all cards have on them. For dinosaurs it's things like ferocity, agility, age (i.e., how many millions of years ago they lived), size, and so on. For the Lord of the Rings characters it's things like magic, resilience, age (again!), and so on. Two players play. They divide up the deck, but don't look at the cards in their piles. When it's a player's turn, he takes a card from his pile (this is the first time he sees it), looks through the statistics, sees what the card is strong in, and says to his opponent, "I challenge you on [statistic]" Then the opponent draws a card from her pile. If it's stronger than the first player's, the second player takes the card. If it's weaker, she forfeits the card. Then it's her turn. This alternation goes on until one player holds all the cards.

Hey deponti, check out amberdine 's journal. You will be able to figure it out. I read it a bit but am running off to 'Pub Crawl'! Heh... gotcha! No am not drinking...just going to watch a series of short plays being staged at the Alliance Francais that go by *that* name!

I have a long night ahead. Have decided on my next post AND I will stay up for the Football match tonight as well! Ahh sleep... we used to know each other once upon a time!

Excuse me, but...what the hell is all this about then? ;)

It this some type of RPG?
Jul. 1st, 2006 12:19 pm (UTC)
It's an online card game based on Top Trumps--see my second reply to deponti and you'll see what Top Trumps are like.

If you click on the live.trumps link, you'll go to the creator's page, and there's a place where he explains more.

I for some reason found it fun, but I have to backpedal and say it's not **that** cool... I mean... I guess the meme where you explore a dungeon based on your journal is probably cooler.

All righty, then! Figured it was something like that. There's an RPG on line I'm kind of interested in, but it's still in beta production and their theme doesn't work on IE, so that's a major bummer there. :(
