the lion guardian

I found a picture drawn by the healing angel--it featured a lion guarding a sword and underneath the lion were two warrior types, one looking very angry. I asked him about it, and he told me that it was for a story he made up.

The lions were guardians of an ancient race--but the ancient race was now all gone. Only the sword of the last king remained, and the lion was still guarding it. The ancient race had the power to summon balls fire--but their enemies had the power to summon demons. Furthermore, when the demon king stabbed things, his stabs could melt armor. But the good king's sword could counteract the power (somehow). At the battle between these two enemy peoples, a force of lions attacked the demon king just when the demon king was trying use his sword. Then there were some complicated armageddon-style maneuvers involving lots of deaths... and in the end there's just one lion left, and the sword.

I also worked for an hour or so on my own story. I'm reading so many journals of so many writers--it's daunting. But you've got to start where you are and improve from there, I guess...

an oriole came and sat right outside my window just now. I could see its individual feathers and its breathing. So beautiful! And a catbird thought about coming to sit on my hand but decided against it. Later another tufted titmouse came to visit.

There seem to be floods of orioles here now. Maybe this is some blessed land!

I saw some wild columbine--beautiful red flower--just getting ready to bloom. I hope one day some of that blooms in my woods. Also in the woods are some pink lady's slippers and lots of the flower they call wild lily of the valley. By the side of the road are lots of wild geraniums.

dug manure, put it on garden
replanted cilantro and carrots
planted cucumber seedlings into the garden (hope it's not to early)
decided to hold off on corn and soybeans/edamame until it's warmer

Look forward to hearing more about this story.
Has some potential! Especially good with pictures!

I think if I had a window by my desk I'd never get any work done. I already get distracted enough watching my friendly spiders. :)

Yay for story progress!

I had a Cardinal wake me up this morning with his distinctive call. Lovely way to wake.

If I am the Lion, what am I guarding? My children & grandchildren......my right to choose...and chocolate, yes, definitely that.

I love the metaphorical aspects of story writing....and reading.

Oh Lilies of the Valley are so wonderful. My grandma had them in her yard and they smell so sweet. I love those, they are so delicate and beautiful. I like the lady's slippers too. We get those and columbine in the mountains here. Columbine is very pretty.

The Lonesome Guardian;

The question I have for the healing angel is: Does the Lion Guard the sword to prevent someone from having it, or to ensure that someone at some point can have it?
