Big and Little

There is a little brother--he likes little things. He can make a bouquet from one violet, one bluet, and one hawthorn blossom. He makes a cup out of a discarded robin's shell and a terrarium with a fragment of moss inside a hickory nut shell. He makes a tiny shrine with flower petals on a rock on a stone wall.

Then there is a big brother--he likes big things. He needs a whole valley for his garden; flowering trees are what he grows there. When he paints a picture, he has to stretch a canvas between two houses. He only runs marathons, never the 50 meter dash.

Sometimes you feel like talking to the big brother, sometimes to the little brother.

But of course big and small come around and end up being each other, in different worlds. That's good.

From the little brother:

From the big brother:

see? robin's egg is bigger than Patagonian mountains.

Hi Amberdine, where are you these days? I miss your posts. You must be hard at work writing. I just got a new ink cartridge for my printer, so now I can print out the last few (tens of) pages of Dragon and Butterfly (I could have been reading it on screen, but I like it on paper better...).

!I'm so cool! Yay! Livejournal is so affirming :-D

I am at my mother-in-laws being disctracted by work-work and agent hunting. Not sure why, but I can't seem to settle down to anything, including LJ posts! I should be better soon.

I'm excited to think you're reading the end. Whee!

Speaking of agent hunting--but I'm sure you know about this already, but it's just a weird coincidence that I came across it today--have you seen this book?

I have seen previous versions of it, and I think it's pretty good.

Fortunately, I am not having much trouble getting interest in the (new) query -- we will see if anyone winds up liking the chapters I send!

I keep wondering if I should post updates in my LJ. (Friends locked, of course.) Hmm. I suppose I could ask the friends. :)

I'd love to read updates, but if I were in your position, I might be leery about posting, so I completely understand your hesitation. Whatever feels comfortable!

I have to confess that I lifted those images off Google--sometimes I'm good about crediting sources; sometimes I just forget. When they're my own pictures (which only has begun to happen recently), I usually say where I took them. I love the Google image search!
