gratitude and accomplishments

I have to shout out a big loud thank you to amberdine and use my demigod...ic powers to shower down all manner of success on her. May F&SF publish seven of her stories. May her first novel have the words "runaway best-seller" on the back of the first paperback imprint. *Thank you!!*

As for me, my latest accomplishment is that I walked the length of some guard rail by the side of the road. I was with the healing angel at the time--he was trying too. This kind of a guard rail:

I've wanted to do this for ages. Managing it confirmed me in my delusions of superpowerdom.

(It doesn't look so hard, but the bit of rail you walk on is pretty narrow...)

Woohoo! I will take all the help I can get. :D

Guard rail walking sounds fun... did anyone beep at you?

I hate to admit that the guard rail I was walking along was guarding soccer fields from being parked on by soccer moms and dads...and was along an access road to a school. So... not much through traffic and no beepers :( But some of the other parents, mistaking my adventures for Good Parenting (bwahahahaha...), congratulated me on so getting in the spirit of things (because obviously the only reason a person like me would balance on a guard rail would be to provide support and encouragement for her offspring... riiight?)

I can't believe you did that! Right next to elevators, guardrails are right up there on the fear list. ;)

This was a very innocuous guard rail--no fast traffic, no hideous chasm on the other side. I'm scared of them too if I'm driving and they're all that's between me and something awful (like aforementioned hideous chasm).

Well, I suppose it's safer than that Parkour thing you were doing.

We never managed any jumping-from-buildings-style parkour, but even so, yes, this is definitely safer. Although I was thinking it might be good *training* for parkour....

Congratulations on your achievements. Now you shall have to do it drunk...Acctually, dont do that.
