five favorite things

I've been mulling over the "five favorite things" today (haven't had time to breathe, let alone sit down at the computer, for more than about five minutes, though...so no time to post)

The thing about coming up with five favorite things is, How fine-grained should your answers be? And do they need to be concrete things, or can they be abstractions? I guess it's open to interpretation.

In my case, they'll have to be five favorite things on this particular day. Tomorrow there might be a different five favorite things.

1. Dreams. I like dreams. Not like Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" (i.e., not goals or visions or wishes or that sort of thing, though those are fine)--I mean the nighttime kind of dream. They let us do so many kinds of things. I have nostalgic memories for places I've only seen in dreams. I was mentally cataloguing some of those places tonight.

2. Having animals be friendly to me. Like, a bird coming and landing on my hand, or a horse nuzzling me because I have an apple in my pocket (but the first has only happened to me once or twice, and the second didn't actually happen to me--I saw it happen to someone else). Or a cat sitting in my lap, or a dog putting its head in my lap. Those are lovely things.

3. Having good conversations.

4. Humid summer days, when everything seems to melt together and you feel like you're stretched out over the whole landscape, and the landscape is inside of you. The humidity brings sounds and smells closer. I feel like I don't even need to breathe.

5. Miyazaki Hayao's movies

that's a good collection of five.

Where's yours? I didn't tag you because your journal seemed to be in a lull. Share...please?

Lull because of business : )

Five things:
1. Fresh food from the markets.
2. Pearls and Twinsets.
3. Deep comfortable couches.
4. Ideas that make the ground beneath me shake.
5. Home.
