I wanted to see a picture of the hairy lobster. And... I found one:

It's a whole new family and genus and species. (For Good Soup) Here's the story.

King Philip Came Over For Good Soup... Kangaroos Play Colorful Overtures From Golden Symphony... Kamikaze Pilots Crash Onto Familiar Gray Ships... Kung Pao Chicken Our Favorite Good Samaritan...

That last one really doesn't make any sense. Please improve it, anyone!

Yesterday, too late really (the sun somewhere behind the clouds was getting ready to set), we tried to recreate the Parkour-ish experience of last week. But the place we picked didn't have things to climb on or balance on or jump from, so it was more like plain old running. The air and time and sky felt inhospitable somehow. At the very end we found some things to climb on, but by then it was really dark... maybe next week will be better.

Mmm. Pretty lobster.

I've seen pics of it off of three different RSS feeds now; methinks that maybe I should do some culling with the redundency and all.

Are they all the same pic, or do some have different views? The one I got is pretty clinical, like it's already been preserved in formaldehyde.

What does RSS stand for?

Same picture, but smaller.

RSS = Really Simple Syndication (or something close to that, stories differ). Basically, when somebody (like, say, Scientific American) has an RSS feed, somewhere there's an XML page that periodically gets updated with links/summaries of the new articles, and if you have a program ("aggregator") that reads RSS, it can tell you when new articles appear.

LJ does the same thing with syndicated accounts; periodically, a server somewhere goes out and checks for new articles, and when it finds them, it updates the account (so you can see them on your "friends" page).
