Quote from the letter

I got a copy of the reply Head Start sent my student. Here's most of it.

It concluded by thanking her for writing and wishing her well on her HiSET (GED) exam.

**so happy**

Yeah--there's lots of bad stuff that happens in the world, so it's good to hold on to the good stuff.

Hurrah!

And how does your student respond, what does she say, how does she look?

She'd had a while knowing about it--I had been away on vacation when it came--so it wasn't a brand-new excitement for her, but she seemed **very** pleased and proud. She said each day the main teacher (my boss) checks the website to see if maybe her testimonial has been added to it (which, knowing how haphazard website updates can be, makes me a leeetle anxious--I don't want her to be disappointed if it doesn't get up there right away--but hopefully that doesn't happen).

This is amazing and made me smile on a day I sorely needed it. Thank you.

You're very welcome. I felt the same way when I found out about it on Thursday.

My pleasure--we have to hold on to good things like this in a world ("IN A WORLD...") where there's lots of bad stuff bombarding us.

For it is written in the Law of Moses: “Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain.” Is it about oxen that God is concerned? Isn’t He actually speaking on our behalf? Indeed, this was written for us, because when the plowman plows and the thresher threshes, they should also expect to share in the harvest. I Cor. 9:9, 10
Glad you have gotten to share in the harvest of your efforts.

How wonderful it is that both the lady and the program respected and valued one another enough to reach out and respond.

So much wonderful! I'm so glad that your student felt confident enough to share her essay with Head Start, and that they responded so quickly and enthusiastically. I hope they update their website with something from her essay very soon! Such wonderful work you are doing in the prison. I know that my mother did some kind of work, possibly volunteer work in association with her graduate work in counseling, at a prison, but she didn't speak much about it while she was alive. So, in a way, every time you share one of your stories, it brings my mother's experience a bit more alive to me.
