I like it when the neighbor cats come and sit over at our house. I find them behind the bicycles, in among the jerusalem artichokes, in the tomatoes, wherever. But I like that they like it here. And I like it when my neighbor's bushes lean over into our yard--I like it when things blend together.
Speaking of jerusalem artichokes, I planted them because they have a flower like a sunflower, but are more resistant to diseases than sunflowers, and because you can eat the bulb or corm or tuber whatsits that they grow from, and because they Go Forth and Multiply without my help. So, they have indeed Multiplied, and they are huge huge huge, but still no flowers. They must be too happy even to flower. This is how tall they are (I am of medium height, and they tower over me):

This morning was wet, so I put on boots and walked through the undiscovered country for the first time in a long time. So good to be there. The bushes leaned over me and pressed right in, all wet and leafy. It was just what I needed--you know sometimes you want to stand on a bluff, with the wind around and air and sky and openness? And other times you want to have things press right in around you, to keep you together. Sometimes I think I might melt or spill or disintegrate if I didn't have these things holding me, from the outside, together.
But then just now, I saw some gorgeous sky ocean pictures from
guitbowl, who really, really knows the sky. Go check them out, they are so beautiful. Here's one for you
guitbowl, it's the sky from the top of a mountain in Canada...

Ha!! You think they were visiting you, but in reality you were just taking care of their vacation house.
I'd never heard of these before. Fascinating! And gorgeous sky pic, too. :)
Oh, and the picture from the mountain top was stunning.

How nicely said. Totally identify with that feeling. I feel that way about walking or running in open air too. Feel like my head will burst if I don't go for a walk or run outside and feel the fresh air.
I do feel really blessed to live where I do... wish everyone could live in a place that made them as happy as this place makes me...
