the space between

(I didn't update for three days, so I have lots of entries stored up...prepare for Asakiyume spam... my apologies in advance)
"Do you think there's something between them?" "Nothing will ever come between us."
Isn't it interesting that in the first sentence, having something between is a good thing--a tie, a connection--and in the second case, having something between is a bad thing--a barrier.
In the throes of full cheek-burning, heart-racing passion, isn't the goal to close the space between, to be so close, so very close that electrons and protons forget what they are?
And then, that experience becomes the "something between them" ... and having shared it, the lovers promise "nothing will ever come between us."
...What happens after is another story, but as for stories, their number is infinite... or more than I can count, anyway.I feel...: passionate I hear...: Eliza Carthy and the Kings of Calicut: "Fisher Boy"

Huh. I'd never thought of it that way. Interesting.
Anything in particular inspire these thoughts?
Probably some song lyric first got me thinking about it--and then my imagination ran away with me.
No need to apologize! I love reading Asakiyume entries! <3
Those sentences are...wow. You could take it so many ways. How wonderful. Did you write those? Or are they from the song you're listening to? They're wonderful! And I love how you're taking them apart.
Those? I don't know, I was just thinking about passion, and it's what came into my head. It's leaking out of me all over the place. Too bad you can't use it for fertilizer or something :D
They're so thought provoking. Write something about them! They're a wonderful theme. Maybe for a short story? :D
Yay! Get on it. I want to read. :D
I can't always think of something useful to say, but I still appreciate your posts. I should say so more. :)
This way, though, it makes it extra special when you *do* comment :-) I'm glad you liked this post because I think of you as a very passionate person; you seem to know all about space, intimacy, ties, and barriers.
*laugh* Strange, I don't think of myself that way at all! Thank you for the compliment, though. :)
Really?! But-but-but... you wrote The Aphorisms and are writing The Admonishments!
And your paintings!
I know there's daily life as well--for me too--but still.
Are those passionate? I tend to think of them as sort of restrained. O_O
lol, truly art is perceived in different ways by different people. :D
Hahaha--I think this says as much about me as you. I'm pretty restrained... or maybe I should say, most of my life I've been pretty restrained. Annnd, I read things into things...
Well, that's the point, for you to find something in it! :)
Then: mission accomplished :D

Some words have opposite meanings, and some words mean almost everything - which means their meaning is mean meaninglessness.
cool: "We had a really cool relationship." (What degree or kind of relationship was that?)
moot: The moot question was whether or not to build the clinic, but after the funding fell through, the question was moot.
etc., etc. Ah, well.
Yes, some words, like "cool," we use to mean anything we please, and then our auditors interpret them the way they please, and we all are satisfied communication has taken place, but has it?

Well, it maybe it's kind of like going to the Opera. The details are foggy and one must suspend disbelief and let the music sweep over. When the show is through, damn'd if the person next to you didn't somehow have a completely different experience than you did. Discussing that is often more interesting than the show itself - and I'm inclined to think that this is what the Opera was designed to do.
I suppose when one must interpret a vague circumstance for meaning 'as they choose', it's maybe a window into themselves - a main ingredient of poetry, art; or for the less intuitive, a half full/half empty sort of thing.
At any rate, communication with the self is the most valuable: "an unexamined life...
When people do have very different experiences, it does make for interesting conversations, that's for sure. It can be disorienting, though, if people's experiences of characters is very different--but when they explain why they saw the character the way they did, yes, it's eye-opening.
Yes, about a window into themselves... I agree.
Mmmm good, thought provoking riff...I could think about that one all day!
What got me the most was how, whether it's something good or something bad, in both cases, there is something between the people... whereas when you're in the throes of an all consuming something-or-other, you want no space, no distinction, no between at all.
Coincidentally, "the space between" is another song all together, but I don't know what it's about... But, seeing the title of this entry, you got the song stuck in my head. ;P
Yeah, I was thinking of that song when I made the entry title... I don't know what it's about either, and the only words I know are those words. Hmm... must check lyrics...
The Space Between: Dave Matthews Band
You cannot quit me so quickly There's no hope in you for me No corner you could squeeze me But I got all the time for you, love
The Space Between The tears we cry Is the laughter keeps us coming back for more The Space Between The wicked lies we tell And hope to keep safe from the pain
But will I hold you again? These fickle, fuddled words confuse me Like 'Will it rain today?' Waste the hours with talking, talking These twisted games we're playing
We're strange allies With warring hearts What wild-eyed beast you be The Space Between The wicked lies we tell And hope to keep safe from the pain
Will I hold you again? Will I hold...
Look at us spinning out in The madness of a roller coaster You know you went off like a devil In a church in the middle of a crowded room All we can do, my love Is hope we don't take this ship down
The Space Between Where you're smiling high Is where you'll find me if I get to go The Space Between The bullets in our firefight Is where I'll be hiding, waiting for you The rain that falls Splash in your heart Ran like sadness down the window into... The Space Between Our wicked lies Is where we hope to keep safe from pain
Take my hand 'Cause we're walking out of here Oh, right out of here Love is all we need here
The Space Between What's wrong and right Is where you'll find me hiding, waiting for you The Space Between Your heart and mine Is the space we'll fill with time The Space Between...
Huh... well, they seem pretty relevant, I guess.
