Who's Y? is “Witches” good?
Witches is very good; I'll send it to you.
Y is my Japanese boyfriend from long ago, the one with cancer.
Ummm this sounds lovely! I must try and find these and listen to them! The variety of languages on this playlist...amazing!!
Hugggggs to you! Hope you will feel less sad soon!
Thanks for the hugs :-)
I was trying to make a playlist with lots of languages. If I had put on some other Manu Chao songs, I could have added Spanish to the list.

That is a very interesting and eclectic list. I would love to hear it. i would pay you for a copy! Let me know, I'll send my address. I listen to a very wide range of music but not pop or rock and roll. I have been on an opera kick for a few years (duccios infulence) and listen to jazz as my mainstay.
Currently I am singing native american songs with a group in prep for a day in June of singing while others dance to a beautiful oak tree.
Oh I would love to send it to you, and I'd love to send it to you for free :-)
You can e-mail me at fmforrest at verizon dot net (replacing "at" with the at sign and "dot" with the period and closing everything up...) and send me your address, and I will mail you a copy.
A couple of the songs are rock/pop, but most are not.
I could also send you some shape-note music, which, in an odd way, you might find somewhat like the native american singing. It's very powerful.

These are pretty obscure, mainly. Tim Eriksen is/was the lead singer from Cordelia's Dad; he's pretty well known, I think, among people who listen to folk-y roots-y music. He helped do the soundtrack to Cold Mountain. That song "Rainin' in Paradize" used to be a free download off Manu Chao's website, and you can definitely hear it on YouTube-- here (actually, you can hear Tim Eriksen's "Hope" on YouTube, too--that's a cool video; it's here). The Vangelis piece is really pretty and was used in Carl Sagan's Cosmos. Apsaras is a Japanese group from long ago. You can hear a snippet of it if you go here; I used it as background for a slideshow (but it's only a small piece of it). "There She Is!!" is Korean rock, and I heard it accompanying a really cute animation. Let's see; you can hear Tijaniyya here and "Caresse Sur L'ocean" here..."Kingsfold" is just the name of the traditional tune to which the hymn "I heard the voice of Jesus say" is sung; you can hear that a thousand places (but this is a pretty version), though the version I've got is instrumental. I think the others are hard to find for free listening online. Gilles Mathieu has his own page on last fm; the Irish Mass is his creation, and you can download the different parts for free from last fm (though it always takes me about three tries because for some reason the download gets interrupted); I heard "Dil Hi To Hai" on last fm, too, then bought it on iTunes. "George Collins" I love, but that too is hard to find without paying for it--I'd gladly send it to you if you have iTunes; do you? "Viridissima" was one an LJ friend ( b_oki) introduced me to; I got Jocelyn Mongomery's CD for Christmas two years ago. Wow, mega long comment... Edited at 2008-04-26 11:14 am (UTC)
